Explore, Experience, Grow

Adventures with Autism (AwA) is a social recreation program designed to target social and life skills by teaching teens and adults with ASD how to be flexible thinkers, problem solvers, and effective collaborators while developing friendships.
The facilitated program supports participants in exploring an itinerary of opportunities one day at a time in different regions through the Central Florida Community.
Ages 13-17
Ages 18+

Program Criteria

Requirements for participation in Adventures with Autism
Be able to function independently in public (no parents or caregivers)
Desire to socialize with others
Be psychologically sound (no Baker Acts for aggression or self-harm for at least 3 months)
Camp registration and fees are subsidized by PALS fundraising.

What to Expect

Every adventure is carefully planned for a positive experience

Pre-Visit Preparation

Participants receive visual guides and social stories to prepare for each outing, reducing anxiety and building excitement.

Supported Experience

Trained facilitators provide appropriate support levels while encouraging independence and peer interaction throughout the outing.
3

Skill Application

Each adventure includes opportunities to practice communication, social navigation, and problem-solving in authentic settings.
