Teen Time outings are designed for adolescents (ages 13–17) to practice social, communication, and self-advocacy skills in a community social setting. These events are an excellent opportunity for teens to make lasting friendships and be provided with social skill feedback by trained PALS Facilitators.

  • Teens must be able to stay with the group in a 1:10 adult-to-teen ratio
  • Refrain from aggression and bullying
  • Have a communication system
  • Independently toilet
  • Parents must be available by cell phone during outings

Skill Building Programs

The Teen Autism Group (TAG) focuses on expanding participants’ abilities to manage difficult emotions, navigate social interactions, and increase independence.

The main focus at this level is using regulation strategies to control emotions and impulses, building self-confidence and self-esteem, conversational skills related to different kinds of social relationships, understanding basic theory of mind, self-advocacy basics, and self-management, including goal setting and time management strategies. Participants will apply the skills covered in 8-12 and focus on adding these new skills and increasing personal responsibility.
