Social Events
ASPIRE (Autism Spectrum Pursuing Interest, Recreation and Entertainment) — an acronym invented by our adults — was developed in response to the request from adults for community-based gatherings. The purpose of ASPIRE is to foster development and sustainment of friendships by connecting with others who may have similar interests. There is also an ASPIRE 40+ group.
Program Criteria
- Must be over 18 years old and have graduated high school
- Able to function independently in public (no parents or caregivers)
- Handle own funds/cards for purchases they may make
- Desire to socialize with others
- Be psychologically stable (no Baker Acts or self-harm for at least 3 months)
- Refrain from physical and verbal aggression
- Parents/guardians must be available by cell for emergencies
Skill Building Programs
Level Up is designed for young adults (ages 18-24) in their final years of high school or recent graduates. The program aims to equip participants with essential life skills, fostering greater independence and readiness for future responsibilities.
Level Up focuses on applying self-regulation strategies to manage emotions and behavior, strengthening conversational skills in appropriate social contexts, deepening understanding and application of theory of mind, exploring dating and relationships, and building the skills and knowledge necessary for greater adult independence.
