Caregivers of Adults Resource and Discussion Group 2026
Caregivers of Adults Resource and Discussion Group
The Caregivers of Adults and Soon to be Adults Support Group is a monthly discussion group exclusively for parents/guardians/caregivers of teens and adults aged 16+ registered with UCF CARD. While this group does not have a specific assigned topic for each session, we do focus on adulthood and transition to adulthood topics.
Common topics of discussion include:
– preparing teens and adults for independence
– housing concerns
– obtaining and maintaining employment
– supports for adults once they age out of school
– transportation concerns
– state and federal benefits (such as SSI, Medicaid, APD, etc)
– schooling post high school
If these topics seem relevant to your family, then this group is likely the right fit for you. If you are unsure if this group is right for you, please contact your ASD Specialist to get further guidance.
This group is run in a support group format and includes active discussion between participants. In order to facilitate discussion and give our group a more supportive feel we ask and strongly encourage all participants keep their cameras turned on for the duration of the group. If you need help to blur or change your background your facilitator can assist with this. Participants that enter with cameras off will be asked to turn them on before beginning the session.
Please note that the meeting room will be locked at 6:45pm and no further participants will be admitted at that time.
